Founded in June 2015 by Joon Oh, Very Joon Oh (VJO) is a creative design consulting firm based in Seoul, Korea, with an aim of being the Right Design Creator. VJO believes that new business environments and changed perspectives of people living in the new era guide us to a philosophy of “Right Decision is Beautiful.”

VJO is committed to the development and design of all-time values that are loved and used for a long time. Also it redefines the contemporary Asian design and culture, and utilizes design as a strategic tool to fulfil people’s needs and aspirations while creating sustainable results and benefits to the society.

Joonsik Oh (Joon Oh) is the Founding Designer and Creative Director at Very Jooh Oh (VJO). Joon studied design in Korea and France, which helps him combine an Asian philosophy and insight about design, and European esthetic perspectives in his design and branding projects. His 18 years of work experiences range from lifestyle to financial and beauty design industries. Joon also specializes in brand and corporate identity design and management.

Before he founded VJO in June 2015, he had worked as the Creative Director at AMOREPACIFIC Corporation’s Brand and Design Lab (ABDL) from January 2013 to December 2014. AMOREPACIFIC is the No. 1 health and beauty company with 70 years of history in Korea. He designed and managed more than 30 cosmetic and health brands of the company, such as Sulwhasoo, Hanyul and Ma Monde, that include mass to luxury brands, and skin care to make-up products. He had successfully completed the company’s renewal of digital communication platforms, and played a great role in taking AMOREPACIFIC on a global stage as the leading Asian Beauty Creator.

For four years from 2009 to 2012, Joon had served as the Creative Director at HYUNDAI CARD, a premier credit card company, one of the affiliate corporates of the Hyundai Motor Group. HYUNDAI CARD is one the best companies the design management is regarded to be successfully applied to, and actively involves in cultural and design activities. Joon introduced HYUNDAI CARD’s premium credit card The Black Liquid Metal Plate that had highly praised both from the industry and the public. He designed HYUNDAI CARD’s bottled water ‘It Water’ that is mainly used at the company’s organized events.

He was also involved in designing the ‘Jeju Olle’ trail signage as a social donation project. Especially those two still get great popularities among people. HYUNDAI CARD’s Dream Realization Project, led by him, helped mon-and-pop shop owners get a boost to their operation by adopting design elements to their stores. It led to win the Gold Prize at the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) in 2010.

Since September 2016, he has been working as the Chief Brand and Design Officer at JoonAng Ilbo, a daily newspaper with the largest number of subscribers in Seoul and the Metropolitan Area. He is responsible for all design works of newspaper publication and multimedia news platform.

Joon studied furniture design at Hongik University in Seoul, Korea, from 1987 to 1992, and earned the Master of Arts degree in Mobilier at École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (EnsAD), Paris, France, in 1997. With his graduation design work, he won the ‘Carte Blanche’ in 1997, the prize awarded by VIA (Valorisation de l’Innovation dans l’Ameublement) to designers whose originality and maturity of creative approach are outstanding for the period. Upon graduation, he had worked with several furniture companies including Harworth Inc. of the United States, Ligne Roset of France and Casamia of Korea for furniture, interior and architecture design projects until 2004.
